One of the Government's top coronavirus experts believes he has contracted the virus, he revealed on Twitter this morning. Professor Neil Ferguson, an Imperial College London virus expert who has been advising UK officials for two months, said he is now in self-isolation.
In
a tweet posted on Wednesday morning he said: 'Sigh. Developed a slight
dry but persistent cough yesterday and self isolated even though I felt
fine. Then developed high fever at 4am today. There is a lot of COVID-19
in Westminster.' Professor Ferguson,
who is in his early 50s, was one of the main authors of a landmark
scientific paper published this week which led to the Government ramping
up its action plan and may have saved thousands of lives in the UK."
