Organisers of Black Lives Matter protests are not 'genuinely interested in getting rid of racism'

Tasmanian Liberal Senator Eric Abetz says the organisers of the Black Lives Matter protests are more interested in establishing Marxism than they are in putting an end to racism. A group of 1000 Black Lives Matter protesters intends to rally together in Sydney Town Hall on Tuesday, despite authorities telling them not to. Prime Minister Scott Morrison has urged protestors to obey the law and not gather in large crowds in order slow the spread of COVID-19. “The Black Lives Matter organisers are deliberately defying health authorities, law and order authorities, because what they’re genuinely on about is not about getting rid of racism, something which we all deplore,” Mr Abetz told Sky News. “What they’re on about is seeking to destroy our Western Civilisation, our culture, and replace it with a Marxist orthodoxy. “Any sensible citizen, no matter how strongly they might feel about racism, will stay at home and protest in another way, keeping in mind that’s what we did on ANZAC Day. “We stood on our doorstep, or at the end of the driveway, and showed our solidarity and support for our veterans in a manner that did not prejudice the health of our fellow Australians but still made a very poignant point for the benefit of our veteran community.” Mr Abetz said nothing would change if the protests were postponed even four weeks, or undertaken in a different manner. “Surely its not beyond the wit of those that are genuinely concerned about racism, to be able to show that support and concern in a manner other than defying medical authorities and the law and order authorities,” he said.
