There are reasons to think it may have legs. ...And everyone understands that the belt-tightening begun this week is likely to make them all very unpopular very soon—and that their coalition should ideally last long enough for the pain to subside a bit, and for the team to chalk up some positive achievements too. This coalition government may prove unexpectedly good at presiding over austerity. And austerity is likely to prove conducive to the survival of the coalition. "
